From the beginning of the month of April, there was a determined effort to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged segments of the society. It was collectively decided to visit an orphanage with the funds raised from public, sponsors from company and sales of merchandise. #SLRamadhan is an annual charity project organised by Schoollah Malaysia to celebrate the holy month of Ramadhan together with the needy. #SLRamadhan 2.0 is the second edition of the project.
This year, #SLRamadhan 2.0 has been hosted at Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, Shah Alam, Selangor, involving a total more than 10 volunteers and 70 orphans altogether, marking the second year of the project. The event is not only to lift up the spirits of the celebrated children, but also to improve leadership skills of the volunteers, motivate and inspire the participants who are involved in the project and highlight the relevance of Schoollah Malaysia in the educational market in general.
During the day of the event, all the volunteers arrived at Pusat Cahaya Kasih Bestari as been planned. After greeting the guardians, we did some activities with the kids. The activities that have been held were charades, colouring games and any other fun games as an ice-breaking session. The volunteers also took some photos with the orphans to be kept as a precious memory. Next, all the volunteers and orphans had their iftar and performed prayers together. At the end of the event, there was a closing ceremony. During this ceremony, Lukman Khiruddin, founder of Schoollah Malaysia gave the monetary (RM10,000) and non-monetary donations that have been collected to the manager of the orphanage centre.
Overall, it was a great and enjoyable experience. The event went well with good cooperation from all the volunteers and committees. It was very satisfying when we can make these unfortunate kids smile and having fun with their friends throughout the event. We hope #SLRamadhan will be continued again in the upcoming years. Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, thanks for having us!
